Is learning to play the bassoon hard?

I am in middle school and have been playing the alto saxaphone for 1 year. I need a change, and I really want to play the bassoon. Ive heard that it is really hard, and the fingerings are confusing. I love the sound though. I also am playing the cello, so reading bass clef is not an issue. Also, will knowing saxaphone embachoure and fingerings help?
